The Small Business Account Manager role is responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of small business members with commercial and agricultural lending needs. This involves providing relationship-based advice, assessing and adjudicating credit within delegated authority, and supporting the long-term financial success of members while managing risk and profitability. The role contributes to Beem’s strategic priorities by delivering trusted, member-centric financial advice, supporting business growth within local communities, driving portfolio profitability and prudent risk management, and promoting a full range of banking, lending, and wealth products.

Requirements

  • Secondary School diploma plus completion of, or enrollment in the CU Source Commercial Lender Accreditation Program (all required and recommended courses)
  • A minimum 3 years’ experience as qualified consumer/personal lender in a recognized financial institution preferably a Credit Union
  • Working knowledge of Credit Union demand, deposit products and granting of consumer credit
  • Familiarity with wealth management products and services
  • Demonstrated proficiency with office software applications such as word processing and spread sheets
  • Demonstrated proficiency working in a team environment with shared duties and responsibilities
  • Proven problem solving and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize, meet deadlines and exercise sound judgement
  • Demonstrated proficiency in providing professional, friendly and knowledgeable service to members
  • Candidates with an equivalent combination of education, experience and skills may be considered

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a professional, courteous and respectful manner
  • Consistently apply Beem’s Standards of Conduct and Service Quality
  • Interview members and potential members to determine and match their needs with Credit Union products and services
  • Analyze and approve new small business credits through the application of safe and sound lending principles and practices within delegated authority level
  • Act as primary resource for the development and building of small business relationships with existing and potential members including cross-selling of Credit Union’s retail products and services
  • Deliver advice and services to existing and potential members in person, at their site, or via other media during and outside of regular business hours
  • Conduct annual and periodic reviews of small business credits and associated documentation in accordance with Credit Union policy and by the application of lending principles and current product pricing guidelines
  • Ensure the profitability of the loan portfolio through application of loan rates and service charges consistent with Credit Union policy, negotiate loan terms, rates and conditions relative to risk while balancing both the member and Credit Union’s needs
  • Monitor margined accounts and take appropriate action as required
  • Instruct solicitors and notaries to ensure appropriate loan documentation is prepared and executed in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements, Credit Union policy and department standards
  • Proactively share your experience and expertise and assist staff in the achievement of their career objectives
  • Identify opportunities, promote services and referrals to our wealth management division
  • Work together with collection personnel and assist with the collection of delinquent commercial credits via collection calls, member interviews and site visits as required
  • Act as backup and resource support for the Business Advisor
  • Other related duties as requested
