Orchard Park Veterinary Medical Center (OPVMC) is seeking a Board-Certified or Residency-Trained Small Animal Surgeon to join our established and expanding surgical department. Requirements
- DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary school
- Board Certification in Small Animal Surgery (ACVS or ECVS) or completion of a surgical residency with intent to pursue board certification
- Licensed or eligible for veterinary licensure in the State of New York
- Three or more years of clinical experience in small animal surgery
- Experience performing a wide range of soft tissue and orthopedic procedures
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume referral and emergency setting
- Interest in contributing to the continued growth and advancement of a surgical service
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality surgical care across a broad range of soft tissue, orthopedic, and emergency procedures
- Participate in emergency surgical coverage as part of a 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including Internal Medicine, Oncology, Behavior, Emergency, and Critical Care
- Develop, oversee, and execute individualized treatment and surgical plans while prioritizing patient safety and comfort
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients, referring veterinarians, and internal team members
- Mentor and support Licensed Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, and surgical support staff
- Participate in surgical case rounds and multidisciplinary discussions for complex cases
- Utilize advanced diagnostic and surgical technologies, including digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, and in-house laboratory services
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records using EzyVet and Smart Flow
- Engage in continuing education to remain current with advancements in surgical techniques and standards of care
