About The Position

The Slurry Helper facilitates the Slurry Operator in maintaining the proper blend of dry ingredients product. This role involves following production orders, ensuring sample cups are available, identifying and managing moldy product, weighing and recording specific ingredients, and reporting any cheese quality abnormalities to Quality Assurance and the Supervisor. The position requires staying ahead on tasks to ensure cooks have blenders ready, maintaining a clean work area by disposing of waste properly, and cleaning up spills. The helper is responsible for ensuring all necessary ingredients are ready and on hand, notifying the supervisor of any problems, and using tools as intended. Collaboration with other departments and co-workers is expected, as is assisting with training new employees and accurately completing all required paperwork. Additionally, the role includes sanitizing lines at start-up, inspecting grinder screens, and filling cooker ingredients with proper labeling. All employees are expected to adhere to safety policies, Good Manufacturing Practices, and the Safe Quality Food Program.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read production schedule and plan and organize workday.
  • Self-motivated and can work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to operate a handheld computer/scanner.
  • Ability to operate various Powered Industrial Trucks.
  • Ability to manage time and organize work.
  • Ability to follow instructions and proper work procedures.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with co-workers and management.
  • Good communication skills: verbal and written.

  • Previous manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Read blend sheets and follow instructions to standardize blenders.
  • Follow production orders for groups.
  • Assure sample cups are near blenders.
  • Scrape mold from cheese and deposit mold in detained product tubs.
  • Weigh and record fish bait on fish bait recording sheets.
  • Notify Quality Assurance and Supervisor of any abnormalities in cheese quality.
  • Stay ahead on job tasks to ensure cooks have blenders ready and do not run out of cheese.
  • Keep work area neat and dispose of empty powder bags, cardboard, plastic, and any work debris.
  • Practice good housekeeping of work areas and grinder office.
  • Clean up powder spills by blenders and in the powder room.
  • Keep floor swept around grinders.
  • Assure that all necessary ingredients are ready and on hand for use.
  • Notify supervisor if any problems occur.
  • Unplug grinder when plugged.
  • Use prescribed tools in the manner in which they were intended.
  • Help Slurry and Grinders and other co-workers when available.
  • Clean, organize, or perform projects given by the Supervisor.
  • Assist with the training of new employees when requested by Supervisor.
  • Fill out all paperwork completely and correctly, including name, production line number, and products ran.
  • Sanitize lines at start up.
  • Inspect grinder screens at the beginning of each shift.
  • Fill cooker ingredient, ensuring they are properly labeled with ingredient and proper batch numbers and date/time they were filled.
  • Perform any assignment or job task according to stated safety policies and procedures.
  • Produce products in a manner that exceeds quality and value expectations by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies, and Procedures outlined in the Safe Quality Food Program.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.
