SLS Booster Element Systems Engineer
About The Position
The successful candidate will provide systems engineering support to the Space Launch System (SLS) Solid Rocket Booster Kennedy Space Center (KSC) resident management office. Tasks include but are not limited to: Booster avionics, pyrotechnic and thrust vector control systems hardware insight and oversight, assembly and checkout test support for Booster aft and forward assemblies, acceptance test support for hydraulic pumps, pre-installation test support for pyrotechnic hardware, launch countdown support, perform system analyses, supporting test system hardware/software troubleshooting, design solutions, supporting reviews, working groups and boards, providing periodic status inputs to project and management. Candidates would be expected to develop expertise in SLS Booster fabrication, component acceptance testing, pre-transfer test and checkout operations and participate in anomaly investigations. The successful candidate will be required to provide leadership and mentor less experienced personnel during development, integration, deployment and operation life cycles.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in engineering.
- Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D., with a minimum of 14 years of experience, master’s degree with at least 18 years of experience, or bachelor's with at least 20 years of experience.
- Knowledge of space systems avionics, pyrotechnic and thrust vector control systems, ground and production support equipment, data acquisition systems, verification and validation processes, design, trade studies, milestone reviews, interface definition, change management, risk management, and safety.
- Ability to review avionics, pyrotechnic and thrust vector control products and provide relevant feedback.
- Good coordination and communication skills.
- Pro-active, multitask and accomplish tasks with minimal supervision.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience with booster subsystems desired but not required.
- Experience with Dewesoft and NX (or equivalent).
