About The Position

Ampersand Therapy is seeking an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with their CCC-SLP who is passionate about mentoring the next generation of clinicians. This position offers the opportunity to provide school-based speech-language services while supervising and supporting a Clinical Fellow (CF) throughout their fellowship year. This role involves more than simply signing paperwork. Supervisors play a critical role in developing and supporting new clinicians. The fellowship timeline is 36 weeks total, with a minimum of 1,260 hours, divided into 3 segments of approximately 12 weeks each, with approximately 420 hours per segment. ASHA requires supervisors to maintain consistent contact with the CF throughout each segment. Supervision should extend beyond the minimum required hours and include regular communication and support. The supervising SLP is responsible for ensuring appropriate service delivery, monitoring clinical competency development, verifying supervision requirements are met, signing off on fellowship hours and progress, and recommending the CF for ASHA certification upon successful completion.

Requirements

  • Hold a current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
  • Have at least 9 months of post-CCC clinical experience
  • Complete at least 2 hours of CF supervision training/professional development focused on supervision prior to supervising a CF
  • Hold a valid state license and appropriate school credentials
  • Remain in good standing with ASHA with no certification or ethical issues
  • Master's Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders
  • Current Colorado SLP License (or ability to obtain)
  • Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Special Services Provider License (or willingness to obtain)
  • ASHA CCC-SLP required

Responsibilities

  • Maintain documentation and compliance requirements
  • Mentor and supervise a Clinical Fellow (CF)
  • Provide ongoing coaching, support, and feedback throughout the fellowship experience
  • Directly observe the CF providing services through in-person observation, live video observation (tele-supervision), or recorded sessions when appropriate
  • Review IEPs, evaluations, and documentation
  • Conduct case discussions
  • Provide feedback and coaching
  • Engage in emails, phone calls, and consultation meetings
  • Track CF experience, including total hours worked, segment timelines, and progress toward the required 1,260 hours
  • Document supervision details, including dates, direct vs. indirect supervision, and duration of each session
  • Complete a formal evaluation assessing competencies in evaluation, treatment, professional practice, and interaction/communication at the end of each segment
  • Determine if the CF Meets Expectations or Does Not Meet Expectations
  • Ensure appropriate service delivery
  • Monitor clinical competency development
  • Verify supervision requirements are met
  • Sign off on fellowship hours and progress
  • Recommend the CF for ASHA certification upon successful completion
