The role involves operating slitting line equipment and managing material flow through the slitting operation.

Requirements

  • Operate overhead and jib cranes, hoists, coil carts, scanners, computers, and electric pallet trucks.
  • Maintain strict safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Set up and configure multiple head configurations and re-coilers.
  • Verify material quality using measuring equipment.
  • Maintain accurate production documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with team members.
  • Perform daily equipment cleanup and maintenance.
  • Understand and comply with all ABB safety policies and hazard communication requirements.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment consistently throughout the workday.
  • Perform physical tasks including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, gripping, pushing, bending, reaching above shoulder level, and pulling.
  • Walk and stand for extended periods.
  • Operate slitting line equipment, overhead cranes, hoists, pneumatic and hydraulic tools, electric and manual pallet jacks, and controls with proficiency.
  • Demonstrate dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Read, write, use a calculator and computer.
  • Inspect tooling.
  • Operate and interpret precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Work scheduled shifts.
  • Be available for daily and weekend overtime on short notice.

Responsibilities

  • Operate overhead and jib cranes, hoists, coil carts, scanners, computers, and electric pallet trucks to safely manage material flow through the slitting operation.
  • Maintain strict safety protocols by identifying and checking emergency shutoffs, light curtains, and safety systems; wear required personal protective equipment including Kevlar sleeves when handling metal strips.
  • Set up and configure multiple head configurations and re-coilers according to production specifications, ensuring proper alignment and coil placement on dereelers and turnstiles.
  • Verify material quality by using measuring equipment to check slit widths, material thickness, and burrs against specifications; match coil numbers and print numbers to process sheets before running.
  • Maintain accurate production documentation including reading production schedules and process sheets, entering inventory data, printing tags, completing QFSP-0004 forms, and scanning material in/out of inventory.
  • Communicate effectively with slitting partners, crane operators, die setters, supervisors, and material handlers.
  • Perform daily equipment cleanup and maintenance including die cleaning and scrap pan emptying.
  • Understand and comply with all ABB safety policies, hazard communication requirements, and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves, and safety sleeves) consistently throughout the workday.
  • Perform physical tasks including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, gripping, pushing, bending, reaching above shoulder level, and pulling; walk and stand for extended periods while maintaining the pace required by production demands.
  • Operate slitting line equipment, overhead cranes, hoists, pneumatic and hydraulic tools, electric and manual pallet jacks, and controls with proficiency; demonstrate the dexterity and hand-eye coordination necessary for complex equipment setup and operation.
  • Comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions; read, write, use a calculator and computer; inspect tooling; and operate and interpret precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality; work scheduled shifts and be available for daily and weekend overtime on short notice.
