About The Position

The Setup Technician is responsible for safely and efficiently configuring slitter arbors to achieve precise slit widths that meet customer specifications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand/walk on a concrete floor for the duration of the shift.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble tooling setups for the slitting line, including spacers, slitter knives, and stripper rings.
  • Interpret part numbers (PNs) and work instructions to determine required slit widths for customer orders.
  • Utilize setup software and PN data to generate accurate, shimless setups.
  • Measure and verify product dimensions using tape measures, calipers, and micrometers, ensuring compliance with customer specifications.
  • Perform and document daily calibration checks on measuring instruments.
  • Input required widths and parameters into the system to generate setup configurations.
  • Determine appropriate tooling clearances using provided clearance charts.
  • Load and thread master coils through the slitter head.
  • Band finished material as required.
  • Maintain 5S standards and overall housekeeping within the work area.
  • Begin cross-training toward the Chief Operator role.
