About The Position

A growing metal processing facility in the Portland, TN area is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Slitter Set-Up Operator. This role is responsible for setting up and operating slitting equipment used to cut large metal coils into narrower strips based on customer specifications. Candidates should have strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Requirements

Previous manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred
Slitter setup or metal processing experience strongly preferred
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
Ability to read measurements and use precision measuring tools
Detail-oriented with a focus on quality
Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
Reliable attendance and punctuality required
Ability to stand for long periods during shift
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and moving materials
Comfortable working around industrial machinery and metal products

Responsibilities

Set up slitting equipment according to production requirements and specifications
Load metal coils and materials safely onto machinery
Adjust blades, spacers, tooling, and guides for proper slit widths
Monitor machine operation to ensure quality and efficiency
Inspect finished product for accuracy, defects, and overall quality
Measure materials using calipers, tape measures, and other precision tools
Troubleshoot machine or setup issues and make necessary adjustments
Complete production documentation accurately
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Follow all safety procedures and company policies
Assist with changeovers and basic machine maintenance as needed
