Under the direction of the Shift Supervisor, this individual sets up and operates slitting machines to slit continuous length of film material, meeting delivery requirements and quality standards to the customers specifications. Requirements

  • Requires education generally equivalent to a high school diploma and three to twelve months of related experience to become familiar with equipment and processes.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on one and small group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Requires the ability to operate slitting machines, hand trucks, hoists, small hand tools, and use basic measuring devices.

Responsibilities

  • Determine which jobs are to be run based on production release reports and customer delivery requirements. Review job information packets.
  • Set up machines ensuring proper operation.
  • Bring master rolls to machine, thread film, ensuring accurate rewind, footage, cores and blade sizes. Set web guide, brake, tension and laydown pressure.
  • Observe flow of material through machine to detect irregular cutting and winding, ensuring specifications are correct.
  • Apply appropriate labeling on completed products.
  • Stack film.
  • Make certain all documentation and reporting is complete and accurate.
  • Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Adhere to the GMP Policy.
