About The Position

The Slitter Operator slices foam according to customer specifications by operating a slitting machine. At the beginning of each shift, the operator receives work orders from the lead person, gathers and positions foam blocks, sets the machine to the required measurements, and makes minor adjustments. The operator operates the slitter, labels foam when requested, tags it for the next operation, and transports finished foam and the shop order copy to the designated area. The role is accountable for accurate slicing and includes maintaining the production area, following safety practices and procedures, and performing assigned general equipment maintenance and other duties. The position is hourly and non-exempt. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities. A high school diploma or GED is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Good mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately are required.

Responsibilities

Receive work orders from the lead person at the beginning of each shift.
Gather foam blocks and position them on the table within the required measurements.
Set up the slicer to the correct measurements and make minor adjustments.
Operate the slitter to slice foam.
Stencil customer information on foam when requested and tag it with information for the next operation.
Transport sliced foam and the shop order copy to the designated area when slicing is complete.
Ensure foam is sliced accurately.
Maintain excellent housekeeping practices in the production area.
Practice proper safety techniques and follow all procedures and guidelines.
Perform general area maintenance duties on equipment as assigned, including working with the maintenance department when necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
