About The Position

Wieland is a global leader in copper and copper alloy manufacturing, processing, and distribution. We provide a large product and service portfolio including power, automotive, ammunition, coinage, construction materials, refrigeration, electronics and many other industries. Wieland is hiring a Slitter Helper. The Slitter Helper will be responsible for all tasks that support the production of material, generally assisting the Operator for a Mill, Slitting or Annealing department. This includes packaging, handling, and transportation of material as well as tasks associated with the operation of machines as determined by the supervisor. This role is located in Waterbury, CT and will be fully on-site. Hourly Pay Range :$28.98 Hr shift differential $0.40Hr Work Schedule : 2nd shift 3:00pm to 11:00pm Pay Schedule : Weekly At Wieland, we recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. Requirements

Ability to read and write English.
Ability to maintain production records and logs.
Ability to pass the training required for signoffs at training committee, and complete the on the job training.
Employment record reflecting reliability.
Above average attendance.
Ability to perform simple math, addition and subtraction.
Excellent decision-making skills and organizational ability.
Mechanically inclined, comfort level with using small hand tools.
High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Responsibilities

Responsible for performing all tasks safely and identifying hazards in the production environment.
Responsible for being familiar with and adhering to all Job Safety Analyses and complete all safety training required for the hourly production employees.
Responsible for upholding any and all standards set forth by the management team.
Responsible for the machine specific or situational duties as assigned by the Supervisor or assigned Operator.
Maintain equipment and work area in a clean, safe and orderly condition.
Responsible for the safe operation of both Stand Up (5K Capacity) and Sit Down (5K,8K,12K Capacity) forklifts.
Responsible for tipping and delivering stock to machines as requested.
Responsible for delivering production related items to where they are needed. These include but are not limited to spacers, scrap boxes, skids etc.
Move material to and from machine using forklifts, transporters, cranes, pallet jacks.
Responsible for packaging material in accordance with customer specifications as well as QA Alerts or posted best practices.
Responsible for assisting the Operator with any tasks he/she requires.
Operate rewind equipment, core cutter, saws, etc.
Perform other similar or related duties or flex to other areas of the plant as required.
Help with the changing and cleaning work rolls, intermediate rolls, and bearings.(Rolling)
Detect and report faulty operations, improper material and unusual conditions to the Supervisor.
