About The Position

This is a night shift position where the Slitter Assistant will operate the slitting machine while adhering to customer quality specifications. This includes ensuring the accuracy of dimensions, roll sizes, quantities, and print quality. The role also involves performing rework and rewinding of rolls that have identified defects from primary operations. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient mathematical and measurement skills.
  • Knowledge of metric conversions.
  • Ability to run multiple jobs simultaneously.
  • Ability to handle project-type work while working individually with little supervision.
  • Experience working with production computer software.
  • Broad knowledge of product and customer specifications.
  • Mechanical knowledge of and ability to adjust gauges, scales and hand tools.
  • Must be detail conscious, quality control and safe production oriented.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years slitter assistant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the slitting machine following customer quality specifications.
  • Ensure accuracy of dimensions, sizes of rolls, quantity, and print quality.
  • Perform rework/rewinding of rolls with identified defects.
  • Support EHS Initiatives.
  • Ensure proper and accurate set up of the machine, including reviewing job folders, using a hoist to hang rolls, reviewing blueprints, setting web guides and knives, cleaning rollers, adjusting gauges, and adjusting cores or spacers.
  • Prepare the machine for the next job by reviewing the job folder and computer data.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment.
  • Ensure the machine operates according to process specifications.
  • Monitor for wrinkles, voids, print quality, and fisheyes on the current job.
  • Set the footage counter, hang rolls, cut out press stops and splices.
  • Remove sets from the slitter and place cores on the slitter.
  • Obtain and deliver samples to the lab for Quality Assurance.
  • Assist with labeling, bagging, and putting away sets as time permits.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor.
  • Visually inspect food contact paths during preventative maintenance to ensure no visible contamination is evident.
  • Contact supervisor if contamination is suspected.
  • Punctuality and adherence to the company attendance policy are essential.
