About The Position

Barfield, a subsidiary of Air France Industries KLM Engineering, is seeking a dedicated Slide & Oxygen Technician to join its Operations Department. Barfield, founded in 1945, operates six facilities near major airports in Miami, Phoenix, Louisville, Atlanta, and Doral, serving customers with commercial or regional aircraft in North, Central, and South America. As part of the AFI KLM E&M network, which has a workforce of 14,000, Barfield contributes to providing technical support for airlines, including airframe maintenance, engine overhaul and repair, and component supply.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or its equivalent.
  • Understand, read, and write English, and have knowledge of basic math.
  • Ability to follow written instructions using schematic diagrams, Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs), Airline EO’s, and other FAA-approved technical documents.
  • Ability to learn the use of basic test equipment, including but not limited to Pressure Gauges, Hydrostatic Testers, Micrometers, Dial Indicators, Torque Wrenches, Calipers, and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Must be adaptive and willing to engage new concepts, processes, and technical capabilities.
  • Dexterity with hand tools.
  • Must be mindful and proactive regarding safety procedures.
  • Must be able to identify hazards and follow the shop processes to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical college or Military training is a plus.
  • Have a friendly and positive attitude.
  • Always be ready to learn new skills and concepts and adapt to changing workflow demands.
  • Be a team player willing to cross-train in other areas, such as logistics and metrology, and support those areas when needed.
  • Have a willingness to understand customer contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to pretest, disassemble, repair/overhaul, assemble, and final test aircraft components, including but not limited to Slides, Rafts, Oxygen Cylinders/tanks, Oxygen Masks, and similar components, using FAA-approved data.
  • Be willing to learn new skills to advance within the company.
  • Be willing to follow company policies and procedures.
  • Keep a clean work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
