About The Position

The Slickline Technician assists the Senior Slickline Operator in performing well intervention operations to maintain and restore oil and gas production. This role supports slickline operations by assisting with equipment rig up, tool string assembly, well intervention activities, and equipment maintenance while ensuring work is performed safely and efficiently. This position plays a critical role in maintaining production reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting safe field operations. This is an entry level role with opportunities for advancement.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. (Preferred)
  • 1+ years oil and gas industry experience preferred
  • Experience with Slickline or wireline operations preferred but not required
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in field environments
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational and time management skill
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office products
  • Knowledge of winter operations and cold-weather equipment considerations
  • Understanding of hydraulic system performance in cold temperatures
  • Ability to safely operate vehicles and equipment in mountainous terrain.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Desire to grow professionally and progress within the organization
  • Ability to identify and communicate potential safety concerns promptly
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment weighing 55 lbs or more
  • Ability to stand, kneel, climb, bend and work in physically demanding environments
  • Ability to work around pressurized equipment and heavy machinery
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time in various weather conditions
  • Ability to obtain H2S certification and properly don SCBA where required
  • Ability to obtain 24-Hour HAZWOPER Certification
  • Understanding of CDOT regulations related to commercial vehicle operation
  • Ability to obtain a Class B CDL within 12–24 months of employment
  • Basic understanding of pressure control procedures
  • Basic understanding of lubricator assembly
  • Basic understanding of slickline tool string assembly
  • Ability to learn various plunger systems and downhole tool assemblies
  • Ability to obtain a NCCCO certification

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Rig Up of slickline equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with rig up and rig down of slickline equipment safely and efficiently
  • Assist with well intervention tasks including: Pulling and installing plungers Retrieving or chasing downhole tools Setting and retrieving locks and plugs Tagging bottom and verifying well depth
  • Assist with assembling and disassembling slickline tool strings
  • Assist with pressure testing lubricators and pressure control equipment
  • Measure and record wireline depths during slickline operations
  • Assist in greasing operations during slickline runs
  • Run diagnostic tools to assist engineering and production teams
  • Monitor well conditions and assist the operator in maintaining safe well control practices
  • Ensure efficient utilization of resources across wells, zones and projects
  • Collaborate with different operational disciplines to conduct work effectively both independently and as part of team
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Stay informed on ECMC rules and regulations
  • Ensure operational activities align with regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry standards
  • Exercise Stop Work Authority when unsafe conditions are identified
  • Comply with all QB Energy environmental, health, and safety (EHS) policies and training requirements
  • Clean, maintain, and organize slickline tools and equipment
  • Assist with routine maintenance of slickline trucks and field equipment
  • Inspect tools and equipment for wear, damage, or operational issues
  • Inspect and service lubricators, stuffing boxes, and pressure control equipment (BOP)
  • Identify equipment issues and report them to the Slickline Operator
  • Maintain and operate company-owned and rented vehicles including trucks and UTVs
  • Ensure all equipment is properly secured and maintained for safe transportation and field use
