This is a 36-hour position, which consists of Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings (7pm-7am). The Sleep Technologist Registered will perform and/or assist in performing quality procedures in the field of Sleep Disorders Medicine. They will obtain orders in accordance with policy and procedure relative to sedation/restraints, and will not leave the patient unattended. The technologist will confirm the patient's chart and/or identity, using appropriate skills assessment to meet the patient's needs. They will educate patients and their significant others in a manner to assure understanding, and obtain appropriate data management and documentation, utilizing hospital resources appropriately. Maintaining a cooperative working relationship with other departments and members of the medical system, and communicating effectively to provide efficient and quality services with high customer satisfaction are key aspects of this role. The technologist will participate in educational activities to enhance patient care and quality, and perform appropriate equipment management including operations and maintenance. Identifying life-threatening situations and carrying out emergency care as allowed by the scope of the job is also required. Ensuring the continuous delivery of high quality patient care by consistently seeking new knowledge and application of skills obtained, attending all required in-services without prompting, and maintaining CPR certification are essential. The role requires utilizing appropriate competencies, guidelines, and environment for safe patient care, and providing age/developmental appropriate patient care in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age group served. Adherence to general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships, and team building is expected.
