Independently performs routine and specialized overnight and day sleep studies. This role involves explaining testing procedures to patients to obtain cooperation and reduce anxiety, monitoring patients’ comfort and safety during tests, alerting physicians to abnormalities or changes in patient responses, obtaining and recording patient identification and medical history, adjusting equipment and controls according to physicians’ orders or established protocol, preparing and positioning patients for testing, and checking, testing, and maintaining equipment, making minor repairs when necessary, to ensure proper operation. The Sleep Tech II/CRT also scores sleep studies and generates reports summarizing data and physiological events. The position requires adaptability and flexibility to handle emergencies, changing workload, personnel shortages, new instrumentation, new procedures, disaster and/or unsuspected events. Responsibilities include checking email each shift, communicating with Co-Workers, Lead Techs and Supervisors, performing disinfection as per manufacturer’s recommendation, adhering to standard precautions and hand hygiene, performing and accurately recording technical procedures safely, effectively, efficiently, and within scope of policy, and actively participating in department huddles, meetings, and communication.
