The Polysomnographic Technician performs all types of sleep disorder testing, including set-up and performance of nocturnal polysomnograms (PSGs). This role also involves training sleep interns as needed. The technician will perform polysomnographic data acquisitions, monitor study quality to ensure artifact-free signals, and identify and report signal abnormalities. They will follow procedural protocols for MSLT, CPAP and oxygen titration, and other tests to ensure data collection. Responsibilities include cleaning electrodes, CPAP masks, patient rooms, and other sleep equipment, and preparing them for sterilization. The technician will review orders, medications, and medical history of pending sleep studies, assess documentation, determine monitoring parameters, and communicate with the ordering physician or Medical Director as necessary. They will administer medications and supplemental oxygen as directed by a physician and recognize and respond to serious medical problems per protocol, notifying the on-call physician as needed.
