About The Position

This job is responsible for maintaining a high standard of patient care by supervising activities and staff in the sleep lab. This job communicates with physicians and supporting clinicians and ensures continuous quality improvement. This job performs chart audits and assists with routine maintenance on equipment. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years’ experience as a Registered Polysomnography Technologist
  • 3 years’ experience as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Licensed as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice
  • Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), Sleep Disorder Specialist (SDS), or Registered Sleep Tech (RST)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Expert knowledge of sleep studies in order to proficiently score sleep studies.
  • Ability to travel as necessary to other sleep labs in the system for quality control.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the day-to-day activities of assigned staff including the responsibility for disciplinary action.
  • Performs annual performance reviews for assigned staff.
  • Audit charts for all quality review in department.
  • Maintains sleep lab equipment and escalates to bio-medical services as needed.
  • Scores sleep studies accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
