About The Position

This position is responsible for managing the daily operations of sleep lab and EEG services. Works collaboratively with the Sleep Center Medical Director and Sr. Director of Ancillary Services to assure sleep technologist staff produce high quality sleep and EEG testing in accordance with the standards set forth by American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) and ABRET for neurodiagnostic testing and credentialing, and other regulatory bodies. This position will be responsible for the oversight of all sleep lab and EEG staffing, training and supervision of personnel. This accountability encompasses: operations or patient care outcomes as applicable, service excellence, human resource issues, fiscal management, quality improvement compliance, budgeting, and communication. Emphasis should be placed on creating a positive environment that fosters professional growth and retention.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in sciences, healthcare or equivalent required.
  • American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) credentials as Registered Polysomnography Technologist (RPSGT), or American Board of Sleep Medicine ABSM) credentials as Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) or National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) credentials as Certified Respiratory Therapist-Sleep Disorders Specialist (CRT-SDS), or Registered Respiratory Therapist - Sleep Disorders Specialist (RRT-SDS) preferred. If not RPSGT credentialed, required to obtain CPSGT or equivalent within 1 year of hire date or 6 months of eligibility.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Two years’ management or leadership experience required.
  • Computer literate.
  • Ability to learn and apply new information quickly and to interpret insurance needs and offer appropriate solutions to customers.
  • Ability to easily multi-task in a team environment.
  • Concise and accurate documentation practices.
  • Be self-assured, tactful, and supportive as this position maintains existing, and fosters new relationships with supporting health care entities.
  • Working knowledge of current Medicare, Medicaid and insurance regulations related to sleep lab operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health care related field, or a bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration.
  • Three years as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or Registered Respiratory Therapist with proficiency in all competences of an RPSGT preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in health care management is preferred.
  • Related sales and/or customer service experience preferred.

  • Represents GSHCS in a professional manner to patients, providers, visitors and/or other staff members while performing job duties, as evidenced by appropriate language, dress, and conduct.

  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, standards, and techniques and demonstrates knowledge in accordance with GSHCS policies and procedures.
  • Maintains and demonstrates a thorough knowledge of departmental safety policies and procedures as they pertain to the job, including the fire and disaster plans.
  • Maintains a safe environment for patients, guests, and staff.
  • Maintains confidentiality and assures protected health information and other sensitive information are managed appropriately.
  • Must be able to supervisor others and plan, organize and implement activities. Maintains harmonious and cooperative relations with fellow employees, physicians, patients, other customers and business contacts.
  • Supports GSHCS’s vision, values, success factors, and interaction agreements.
  • Establishes and meets goals, plans & timetables.
  • Represents Home Medical Equipment department in working as part of GSHCS team.
  • Keeps Sr. Director of Ancillary, management, colleagues & stakeholders informed about work status, problems, and issues.
  • Represents GSHCS with business partners & customers.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to meet and communicate verbally with public in positive & meaningful way and be able to work at a fast pace while remaining in control with the situation being dealt with.
