About The Position

Devereux New York is seeking dedicated professionals to join their team as Sleep Direct Support Professionals (DSP). This role offers the unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities while earning money during sleep hours. The position is located in Red Hook, NY, and involves overnight stays at the assigned location, with an anticipated seven hours of sleep per night. During awake hours, the Sleep DSP will assist residents with daily activities, personal care, achieving goals, and household tasks, while ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. Devereux New York serves individuals with intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and dual diagnoses.

Requirements

High School Diploma / GED required.
Valid NY Driver's License.
Flexibility, patience, energy, creativity, and a sense of humor.
Strong passion for working with and helping children and adults with special needs.
Zero-tolerance policy for abuse and adherence to policies and procedures to systematically reduce the risk of abuse.

Nice To Haves

Associates Degree preferred.
Consideration will be given for a candidate without a High School diploma if enrolled in a GED program.
One year experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Sleep overnight at the assigned location, being responsive to resident needs if support is required.
Assist individuals in daily activities, including health and personal management.
Support individuals in achieving personal goals.
Assist with daily household living.
Maintain a safe and therapeutic treatment environment.
Meet the physical, emotional, and personal needs of program individuals.
Improve functioning and minimize interfering behaviors.
