About The Position

Devereux New York is seeking a Sleep Direct Support Professional (DSP) to work with children and adults with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and dual diagnoses. This role involves making a positive difference in their lives by assisting them with daily activities and helping them achieve long-term goals. The position is located in Highland, NY, and allows the DSP to sleep overnight at their assigned location for an average of seven hours per night, while remaining responsive to residents' needs. During awake hours, the Sleep DSP is responsible for assisting individuals with health and personal management, achieving personal goals, and daily household living. The DSP must also maintain a safe and therapeutic treatment environment that meets the physical, emotional, and personal needs of program individuals, aiming to improve functioning and minimize interfering behaviors. Devereux is a large nonprofit organization providing behavioral healthcare services, committed to unlocking and nurturing human potential.

Requirements

• High School Diploma / GED required
• Have a Valid NY Driver's License
• Be flexible, patient, energetic, creative, and have a sense of humor
• Have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adults with special needs

Nice To Haves

• Associates Degree preferred
• One year experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Being responsive to the needs of the residents in the event that support is needed
