About The Position

The Systems Engineer is a pre-sales technical role that owns the technical strategy for a portfolio of mid-complexity accounts within an assigned territory, working in close partnership with the Account Executive team. Operating with moderate-to-high autonomy, this person independently designs solutions, leads technical validation, and is directly accountable for the technical win rate and revenue outcomes in their accounts.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of experience in networking or pre-sales engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Demonstrated ability to independently design solutions for mid-complexity, multi-product environments
  • Track record of owning technical outcomes and directly influencing revenue within a territory
  • Strong knowledge across two or more of the following: Network Access Control (NAC)/RADIUS/802.1x/Active Directory/LDAP, security principles (firewalls, VPNs, intrusion prevention), cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP), wireless/SDN/SaaS, IPv4/v6 routing protocols, Layer 2 switching
  • Excellent consultative, presentation, and communication skills; able to earn trust as a technical strategist with Account Executives and customers
  • Comfortable mentoring more junior SEs and sharing field expertise
  • Ability to travel within the assigned territory as needed

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical qualification for assigned accounts throughout the sales cycle
  • Independently design and architect solutions that meet customer requirements
  • Drive Proof of Concepts (POCs) and technical validation to advance deals
  • Partner with Account Executives to shape and influence deal strategy
  • Build technical capability within channel partners through training and enablement
  • Expand and apply competitive positioning knowledge to win against alternative vendors
  • Own technical win rate and contribute directly to territory revenue results
  • Represent Extreme Networks in customer presentations, demonstrations, and technical discussions across all levels of a customer's organization
  • Use Wi-Fi test and planning tools (e.g., Ekahau, AirMagnet, NetScout) to support design and validation work
