About The Position

The Sky Room Bartender is responsible for selling and servicing food and beverage items, including order-taking and delivery. This role involves preparing beverages for guests and coworkers according to Fairmont Breakers' recipes and guidelines, ensuring cost-efficiency and compliance with all liquor laws. The position requires a friendly, courteous, helpful, and professional demeanor to ensure a high level of guest satisfaction. The bartender will uphold Fairmont Breakers' values and mission statement, adhere to company policies, and consistently offer engaging service. Key responsibilities include maintaining extensive knowledge of food, liquor, beer, wine, and cocktails, preparing basic beverages and cocktails, interacting positively with guests, and ensuring proper service. The role also involves personal and financial accountability, controlling bar costs and waste, maintaining bar cleanliness and organization, thorough closing paperwork, and possessing extensive knowledge of the menu and food preparation techniques. Proactive assistance to coworkers, support for managers, proficiency with property services, familiarity with all food outlets and amenities, and knowledge of city information and hotel history are also expected. The bartender will act as an ambassador for the department, property, and brand, maintaining regular attendance and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Previous customer service experience required, preferably in an upscale setting.
• Previous bartender experience required.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
• Highly responsible and reliable; can work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a small team and independently.
• Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times.
• Must speak and understand English.
• Able to read and write in English to facilitate communications.
• Cash handling skills are necessary.
• Basic math skills.
• Must be able to obtain Food handlers certification.
• Must be able to obtain TIPs or Alcohol Safety Certification.
• Successful completion of server position training program.
• Must Pass Food, Beverage and Service Knowledge Quizzes.
• Must have previous experience serving in a luxury environment.
• Must have previous experience serving in a high-volume environment.

• Previous point of sale system experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Close out paper work thoroughly.

• Assist co-workers proactively.
• Support and assist Managers.
• Be proficient with all aspects and services of the property.
• Be familiar with all food outlets and amenities within the property.
• Be knowledgeable of general city information as well as hotel history.
• Act as an ambassador for the department, the property and the brand.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
