About The Position

As the only aerial tramway in Southeast Alaska, guests at the Goldbelt Tram are invited to soar to new heights in scenic adventure aboard Juneau's top attraction. We offer locals and visitors an opportunity to experience breathtaking Alaska scenery, explore the miles of trails atop Mount Roberts, and learn more about Alaska Native culture. This role is based in Juneau, Alaska, and applicants should either live there or be open to relocating at their own expense.

Requirements

  • Ability to meet time and attendance requirements.
  • Ability to work all different shifts including holidays and weekends.
  • Ability to attend all scheduled meetings, orientations and trainings.
  • Ability to handle stress under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to learn, understand, and follow oral and written instructions/directions.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of computer software.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.
  • Ability to work directly with the public, providing information and assistance on a daily basis.
  • Ability/willingness to learn and pass on to guests those areas of interest to visitors, such as local history, people, culture, geography, etc.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) seasons of ticket agent or host, customer service or paraprofessional level experience involved with tourism, travel, and/or hospitality services, including cash handling tasks.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Current CPR Certification and First Aid training or the ability to obtain within 30-days.
  • Previous experience working in the visitor or hospitality industry or other customer service-related field.
  • Previous supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tour and local visitor information and assistance.
  • Perform ticketing services and sales in the sky bridge.
  • Ensure each customer receives prompt and courteous service.
  • Display a positive attitude and speak highly of the company.
  • Maintain a balanced cash drawer and accurately handle sales transactions.
  • Use diplomacy when a customer's credit card is declined.
  • Function as a supervisor during operational hours when a manager is not on duty, maintaining and improving guest and ticketing services.
  • Assist the Guest Services Supervisor in establishing and nurturing good working relationships with various stakeholders to secure and increase sales.
  • Act as a primary contact for guests in the sky bridge, ensuring they are properly ticketed and selling tickets via a mobile POS system.
  • Oversee efforts to prevent non-paying riders.
  • Provide directions to guests regarding mountain top attractions.
  • Responsible for giving theater hosts their breaks.
  • Familiar with theater operations at the upper terminal and operate projection and sound systems.
  • Explain practices, procedures, and techniques for excellent customer service to subordinate hosts.
  • Assign tasks, check quality of work, and make suggestions for improvement.
  • Train and supervise subordinate hosts.
  • Work in conjunction with Tram Attendant and other staff to ensure orderly and moving tramway lines, checking wrist stamps, answering questions, and problem-solving.
  • Use diplomacy to de-escalate situations when informing guests of tramway operation interruptions.
  • Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
