About The Position

Under the direction of the supervisor, workers perform production, maintenance or janitorial duties as assigned to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, yield and Cost goals. Each operator is responsible for and has the necessary authority to ensure quality, including stopping production to correct quality non-conformance.

Responsibilities

  • Uses appropriate safety measures
  • Uses appropriate measurement equipment and techniques as trained
  • Records and maintains documentation and data as required.
  • Follows applicable work instructions.
  • Uses good housekeeping skills to maintain the work area.
  • Follows directions and instructions of all supervisory personnel.
  • Maintains good relations with co-workers, management and visitors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Load Shaft Furnace per instructions as to charge and method.
  • Pick charge material with eye toward good housekeeping and consistent with charge instructions.
  • Be sure chip collector operates correctly and change chip hopper when needed.
  • Place empty hoppers in proper storage area.
  • Operate mold water valve on startup.
  • Check forklift water, oil, gas, and brakes at beginning of each shift.
  • Provide assistance on platform if needed.
  • Assist in saw blade change.
  • Relieve of casting jobs if required.
  • Keep area around and under the skip hoist bucket clean.
  • Assist where assigned operator when down.
  • Change out hoppers at the Press when requested.
