About The Position

Ascentria Care Alliance is seeking a Skills Trainer to provide 1:1 supports to individuals, focusing on sensory sensitivities and facilitating productive play activities to teach and reinforce skill development. The role involves teaching and supporting individuals in their homes and communities with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs), such as transportation, technology use, money management, hygiene, and laundry. The Skills Trainer will also serve as an advocate for individuals and families, coordinate with other service providers, and ensure all work respects client rights, privacy, and dignity while adhering to contractual regulations. The position requires flexibility to meet client schedule needs and involves transporting clients in the community.

Requirements

  • A high School Diploma is required
  • At least 1 year experience in ABA field strongly preferred
  • BCBA or ABA certification highly preferred
  • Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with concepts related to neurodiversity strongly preferred
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment with community based human service professionals and staff.
  • Flexibility to meet schedule needs of individuals and families
  • Valid Driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance is required to transport clients throughout the community.
  • Candidates who are selected for hire must successfully complete all required background checks before starting their employment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver 1:1 supports with significant consideration to sensory sensitivities
  • Facilitate productive play activities to teach and reinforce skills development
  • Teaching and supporting individuals both in the home and in the community with ADLs and IADLs (examples include but are not limited to: transportation, using technology, money management, hygiene tasks, and laundry)
  • Serve as an advocate for individuals and families at various community levels
  • Support individuals and families to participate in social and recreational activities that encourage networking, formation of natural supports and peer support.
  • Coordinate and work collaboratively with other service providers and family as needed to implement treatment planning objectives
  • Job must be conducted at all times in a way that respects the rights, privacy and the dignity of the client and adheres to all contractual regulations.
