We are recruiting for a creative individual to work with our developmentally disabled clients for our Skills Instructor/Personal Assistant Position. This position is responsible for direct supervision and training of client/consumers throughout the facility and in the community who receive support from various People Services Inc., Programs. People Services’ clients are people with developmental disabilities. The Skills Instructor/Personal Assistant will on some days will be scheduled to perform the duties of Skills Instructor and on other days will be scheduled to perform the duties of a Personal Assistant, as needed by the organization. Skills Instructors will provide support which is consistent with Person Centered Planning and Positive Supports Plans. The goal of training will be to assist client/consumers in achieving both their short and long-term goals. The Skills Instructor will assure that all training for the client/consumers is of the highest quality and consistent with all applicable regulations and standards. The Skills Instructor/Personal Assistant will also demonstrate positive, caring relationships with all client/consumers and their significant others. Significant others include but may not be limited to family, care providers, friends of client/consumers and any other professional or lay person within the circle of influence of the client/consumer. Personal Assistants will provide assistance to client/consumers in meeting their basic care needs while at day program. Assistance may be provided by the Personal Assistant in the community as well as in the facility. The duties will include but not limited to ambulation to and from classes, feeding, bathing, dressing, toileting and age/ability appropriate leisure activities as needed.
