About The Position

Most student positions at American University are eligible to use Federal Work Study (FWS) awards, with a few exceptions. FWS funds cannot be applied to janitorial, construction, partisan or sectarian positions. This 10 hour per week part-time position that supports the Skills Institutes in the School of International Service. These weekend courses are aimed at providing graduate students in international affairs with in-demand skills. Requirements

  • Previous experience in working with events, professional communications, and/or research and evaluation.
  • This position requires regular weekend (Saturday and Sunday) work.
  • This position is available only to enrolled American University students.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in international affairs or education.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Demonstrated interest in experiential education.

Responsibilities

  • Faculty Support: The incumbent supports Skills Institute faculty during, and prior to, instruction of the course.
  • Student Support: The incumbent supports students in Skills Institutes by trouble-shooting technological issues and other access challenges.
  • Program Assessment: Complementing the AU-wide SETs, the incumbent surveys students and analyzes the data that these surveys produce.
