Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or educational credential assessment is required.
  • Licensed by Ministry of Skills and Development (442A, 309A, or Red Seal) is required.
  • Completion of Tradesman and Qualification Act requirements.
  • Candidates with non-Canadian credentials must provide an evaluation confirming Canadian equivalency as determined by the Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada such as WES.
  • The role frequently involves sitting and using hands and fingers for handling, feeling, and keyboard manipulation, requiring manual dexterity.
  • Occasionally requires standing, walking, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, with close vision and potential exposure to chemicals.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of workplace safety, safe lifting and handling procedures, with First Aid and CPR considered an asset.
  • Proficient in using shop tools including lathe, mills, grinders, drill presses, precision measurement instruments, power tools, and technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints, as well as controllers, PLC and HMI, PID, calibration, and engineering drawings.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to schedule.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, attention to detail, adaptability, and ability to manage change efficiently while staying organized and multitasking effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assembly, disassembly, installation, repair, and fabrication tasks to maintain machinery, equipment, spare parts, tooling, and facilities based on technical documentation and standard practices.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and control issues, making necessary corrections, and conduct system support tasks such as fuse changes, contactor resets, and calibrations as trained.
  • Ensure compliance with Preventive Maintenance, Standard Operating Procedures, current Good Manufacturing Practices, and regulatory requirements while updating the Computerized Maintenance Management System with necessary information.
  • Complete documentation such as work orders, preventive maintenance, calibration forms, and validation documents to required standards.
  • Execute assigned preventive maintenance and work orders on schedule.
  • Support on-site contractors as necessary for preventive maintenance or project activity.
  • Provide on-call support as scheduled.
  • Maintain tools, toolboxes, and shop areas in compliance with standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
