About The Position

We are looking for a talented Skilled Trades - Tool Design to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Cummins Inc. facility in Jamestown, NY.   • Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.
  • Knowledge in algebra, trigonometry, statics, material properties, machining processes.
  • Meets one of the following minimum requirements: Must possess 7 years’ experience working in the Tool Design Trade. Successful completion of an approved 4-year, 8,000 hours on-the-job-training apprenticeship program with related course of study, plus 1 year working in the field of Tool Design. 2-year Technical Degree in the related field (Tool Design/Mech. Tech.), plus 3 years’ experience working in the field of Tool Design.

Responsibilities

  • Use 3D modelling to design tooling and fixturing to support all areas of operation in the plant.
  • Create 2D prints and assembly drawings for the building and maintenance of the tooling.
  • Assist Engineers, Technicians, and Tool Makers in problem solving and implementation.
  • Performs skilled activities which support manufacturing business needs.
  • May work independently and instruct / coach others.
  • Design tools, fixtures, gauges, machine improvements, small machinery using CREO software.
  • Maintain drawings, keep records on new & changing designs.
  • Work independently, be accountable for project hours.
  • Ability to conceptualize project work, attention to detail.
  • Seek out project information as needed for development.
  • Assist Engineers, Technicians, & Tool Makers in set-up & debugging of tooling.
  • Provide assistance for assembly of project.
