About The Position

The Skilled Labourer position is based in Nunavut, Canada, with a 3x3 rotation fly-in, fly-out schedule. The role involves assisting trades in daily mine functions, completing ground crew responsibilities for flights, and ensuring the safe storage of trucks and equipment. Responsibilities also include organizing sea cans, loading/unloading construction materials, preparing and cleaning sites to meet safety standards, managing waste, clearing pathways during winter, and reporting stock level deficiencies.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of general labourer experience in a remote camp environment.
  • Completion of High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to comprehend, read, write, and converse in functional English to ensure safe working conditions on site.
  • Working rights in Canada.

  • Prior work at a mine site is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Trades in performing daily functions at the mine, such as assisting operators in avoiding any potential collisions or accidents.
  • Complete ground crew responsibilities for inbound and outbound flights.
  • Ensure that trucks and equipment are safely and securely stored.
  • Organize the sea cans and ensure accessibility throughout the year.
  • Load, unload, and identify construction materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations.
  • Clean and prepare sites to eliminate possible hazards e.g., tripping hazards; and ensure all safety standards are met.
  • Keep entrances clear of rubbish and unwanted items in accordance with site standards.
  • Clean and stack salvaged material to a safe standard, clean up chemical spills and other contaminants in accordance with health and safety practices.
  • Assist Operators with waste management and emptying pactos.
  • Shovel, plow, and sand pathways as required during winter months.
  • Report deficiencies in site product stocking levels as required to supervisor.
