About The Position

OCL Group Inc. is a privately held, employee-owned, fully integrated general contractor with design-build solutions across Western Canada, serving the energy and municipal infrastructure markets since 2009. The company was founded on the principle that "people matter" and "doing the job right." This role is for an experienced, reliable, and hard-working Skilled Labourer to join the team on a 14/14 rotation at Kearl Oil Sands. This is a fly-in/fly-out position with flights provided from Edmonton or Calgary, and flight allowances based on the province of origin. OCL Group believes that the people on the ground are key to doing the job right, and ideal candidates will be ready to work, take pride in their contributions, and be committed to maintaining a safe working environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Skilled Labourer in industrial construction environments
  • Ability to safely operate basic hand and power tools
  • Strong understanding of construction site safety practices and hazard awareness
  • Physically fit and capable of performing demanding manual labour (lifting up to 50lbs, bending, standing and working in various weather conditions)
  • Ensure a safe team environment. Strong teamwork skills with a positive and reliable work ethic
  • Strong communication skills. Ability to follow and understand instructions given.
  • Must have reliable transportation, a valid drivers license with a clean drivers abstract
  • Must have the following safety tickets: WHMIS 2015, CSTS 2020 (or equivalent)
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Must be willing to complete a criminal background check
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

Responsibilities

  • Complete tasks in line with OCL and industry standards, procedures and practices
  • Assist skilled trades as required
  • Operate basic hand and power tools safety and effectively
  • Perform spotting and flagging duties when required
  • Read and understand site-specific instructions prior to each shift
  • Site cleaning and preparation
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area / job site
  • Participate in daily toolbox meetings
  • Perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions
  • Other duties as assigned
