About The Position

The Diocese of Allentown is seeking a full-time Skilled Laborer for Holy Saviour Cemetery in Bethlehem. This role is responsible for maintaining cemetery grounds, including grass cutting, trimming, tree and shrub removal, leaf maintenance, spring clean-up, digging foundations, snow removal, and assisting with burials and entombment. The position requires operation of various equipment such as small tractors, trucks, lawn mowers, a payloader, and push mowers. Employees are expected to exhibit respect for the teachings and discipline of the Catholic Church.

Requirements

• High School Diploma (preferred).
• Exhibit a high degree of integrity, loyalty, time management skill, dependability, and a strong work ethic.
• Knowledge of grounds and building tools and equipment operations.
• Ability to perform repairs to minor equipment.
• Ability to work independently, multi-task, and demonstrate competence in all areas of responsibility.
• Ability to work with all staff members, co-workers, and contractors in a professional manner.
• Must have a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License. Revocation of PA Driver's license may result in termination of employment.
• Must be able to lift weights up to 50 lbs. Occasionally items weighing more than 50-lbs. are lifted with assistance from co-workers.
• Must be able to walk on hilly, flat, or rolling terrain.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cemetery grounds, including grass cutting, trimming, removal of trees and shrubs, leaf maintenance, and spring clean up.
• Dig foundations for graves.
• Perform snow removal at cemeteries, the Tribunal, and residences of current and retired Bishops.
• Assist with burials and entombment, including erecting tents and preparing graves.
• Operate small tractors, small trucks, lawn mowers, push mowers, large mowers (Yazoo/Locke), and a payloader (front-end loader).
• Perform manual digging when necessary.
• Clean and store all tools and equipment as directed.
• Perform any work directed by the Superintendent, Foreman, or Field Supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
