About The Position
The Skilled Laborer (Water Construction/ Pipe Laying) will demonstrate training, experience, and technical proficiency in the installation, alignment, connection, and testing of water-related piping systems. This role requires the ability to perform tasks accurately, safely, and in compliance with engineering plans, industry standards, and applicable codes.
Requirements
- High school diploma, or equivalent.
- 1 year of water groundman experience.
- Valid driver's license is required.
Nice To Haves
- 2 or more years of water groundman experience.
Responsibilities
- Installing water, sewer, stormwater, or utility pipelines using approved methods and materials
- Reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and grade stakes
- Preparing trenches, bedding, and backfill to proper depth, slope and compaction requirements
- Cutting, fitting, joining, and sealing pipe materials (e.g., ductile iron, PVC, HDPE, concrete)
- Operating common hand and power tools used in pipe installation
- Assisting with pressure testing, leakage testing, and inspections
- Working safely around heavy equipment and in excavations
- Following OSHA safety standards and applicable local, state, or federal regulations
