Skilled Ground Worker (Fort Hills)
About The Position
NACG is seeking Skilled Ground Workers to join our remote mining site team in the Fort McMurray area. This is your opportunity to join one of the safest and largest contracts in the region. For this role, NACG offers a combined rate of up to $36.17/hour as well as room for growth! The work will be performed at the Fort Hills site on a 14 x 7 schedule, with 12-hour paid days and nights. Camp accommodation and transportation (flights from Edmonton or Calgary, bussing from Fort McMurray) are provided. Overtime is provided after 8 hours in a day or 44 hours in a week. Successful candidates will become members of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955.
Requirements
- 2 years experience in a labourer role.
- Minimum 1 year of previous mine experience.
- Successful candidate must be physically fit, capable of lifting 50 lbs (will be doing a lot of lifting and working outdoors) and work well with others.
- A safety-first attitude
- Attentive and possess strong listening skills
- Be proficient in English, both verbally and written
- Have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience driving in the mine, shoveling, raking, grade/laser work, managing pumps and dewatering, installing piping and backfill is considered an asset.
- High school diploma, GED, and/or post-secondary education is considered an asset
Responsibilities
- Snow removal around shop and front parking lot (seasonal).
- Driving light vehicles in the mine
- Installing culverts/pipes
- Using plate tampers/other hand tools.
- Moving light plants/heaters and installing silt fence/filter cloth/geogrid.
- Ensure compliance to all company, client and legislated safety policies and procedures.
- Using adequate and suitable safety equipment, including PPE.
- Reviewing safe work plans/hazard assessment with prior to job commencement.
