About The Position

The Skid Steer Loader Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of skid steer equipment to support site development activities, including rough and fine grading of subgrades for sidewalks, landscaping, concrete pavement, and asphalt installations. This role requires precision, attention to grade control, and the ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment.

Requirements

  • 2–5+ years of experience operating skid steer equipment in civil/site development or road construction.
  • Strong experience with rough and finish grading techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, grade stakes, and survey controls.
  • Proficient in safe operation of skid steer with various attachments (bucket, grading blade, forks, broom).
  • Strong understanding of grading, elevations, and drainage principles.
  • Ability to work in close proximity to personnel, utilities, and other equipment safely.
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow direction from supervisors.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality finish work.
  • Willingness to assist with general labor tasks as needed.
  • Adhere strictly to OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Conduct daily pre-operation inspections and hazard awareness checks.
  • Maintain a safety-first mindset in all operations and interactions on the jobsite.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of South Florida site conditions (drainage, compaction, sandy soils) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Operate skid steer equipment to perform site preparation, grading, and material handling activities.
  • Perform finish grading and shaping of subgrades for sidewalks, pedestrian pathways, concrete pavement placements, asphalt paving surfaces, and landscaping areas and swales.
  • Grade surfaces using grade stakes, and site plans to achieve proper elevations and slopes.
  • Load, move, spread, and level materials such as soil, rock, sand, and aggregate.
  • Assist paving and concrete crews with subgrade preparation, material distribution, and cleanup.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections, maintenance, and daily safety checks (fluids, tracks, attachments).
  • Identify and report mechanical issues promptly to supervision.
  • Work closely with foremen, surveyors, and crew members to coordinate grading operations and maintain production schedules.
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site, including final trimming, grading touch-ups, and debris removal.
