Reporting to the Earthworks Foreman, the Skid Steer Operator is responsible for safely operating skid steer equipment to support grading, excavation, material handling, and site preparation activities on civil construction and earthworks project sites. This role plays an important part in maintaining efficient site operations and supporting crews in achieving production targets.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience operating a skidsteer in a civil construction or earthworks environment
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a Driver’s Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions
  • Willing to travel and work out of town for short, fixed-term periods, as needed
  • Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing and Fit for Work Testing will be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with grading, site prep, and working around utilities is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Actively contribute to the safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment
  • Operate skid steer equipment to perform tasks such as grading, trenching support, backfilling, loading materials, and site clean-up
  • Handle materials including aggregate, gravel, sand, and fill as directed
  • Perform pre-trip and daily equipment inspections to ensure safe and reliable operation
  • Work closely with ground crews, excavator operators, and supervisors to support efficient workflow
  • Follow site plans, grade stakes, and instructions to achieve proper elevations and site preparation
  • Maintain safe operating practices around personnel, equipment, and underground utilities
  • Identify and report hazards, equipment deficiencies, or unsafe conditions to the Foreman
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area around operating equipment
  • Support other earthworks activities as required to meet project schedules
