About The Position

This is a non-supervisory position that will provide on mountain training in the use of rescue toboggans in all terrain. This position is responsible for the maintenance and ordering of all rescue toboggans. The Toboggan Specialist reports directly to the Director of Patrol, Ski Patrol Manager, and Ski Patrol Supervisor. This position is part of a bargaining unit represented by the Solitude Ski Patrol Union.

Requirements

• Must be employed as a Solitude Mountain Patroller.
• The ability to demonstrate expert toboggan handling and skiing skills in all terrain.
• The ability to conduct high angle toboggan rescues.
• The ability to teach and train patrollers in the use of rescue toboggans in all terrain.
• Mechanical ability to perform toboggan repairs including fiberglass.
• Ski Patrol Level 1 or above.

Responsibilities

• Provide on mountain training in the use of rescue toboggans in all terrain.
• Responsible for the maintenance and ordering of all rescue toboggans.
• Coordinate and oversee toboggan training with patrol management and other specialist roles.
• Properly document all toboggan training.
• Research and prepare orders for new and different rescue sleds and repair supplies.
• Maintain an up-to-date inventory log of all rescue toboggans including maintenance needs and repairs in coordination with patrol management.
• Maintain an inventory and record of toboggan parts including sled carriers.
• Responsible for properly repairing all toboggans including fiberglass repairs.
