About The Position

Allied Universal® is hiring a Special Investigations Unit (SIU) Investigator to investigate insurance claims with red flags that may indicate fraud. The role applies knowledge of insurance policies and fraud indicators to assess whether claims warrant reporting to the appropriate state agency for prosecution. The position includes field work, an auto allowance, and a company credit card for fuel and travel. A valid driver’s license and at least one year of driving experience are required.

Requirements

• Must possess a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, or a high school diploma or higher with at least five years of demonstrated professional law enforcement experience, with specific attention to fraud-related investigations.
• Must be able to obtain any Private Investigator license required by the state where work is completed.
• Must successfully complete Allied Universal Investigations training/orientation after an offer.
• At least five years of demonstrated experience conducting complex insurance investigations or adjusting complex insurance claims.
• Proficient understanding and application of anti-fraud laws, insurance regulations, and compliance standards in the employee’s home state and designated regional area.
• Proficient in using laptop computers and cell phones.
• Knowledge of Special Investigative Unit (SIU) compliance.
• Ability to type at least 40 words per minute with minimal errors.
• Flexibility to work varied and irregular hours and days, including weekends and holidays.
• Valid driver’s license and at least one year of driving experience.

• Certified Fraud Investigator (CFE), Certified Insurance Fraud Investigator (CIFI), Fraud Claim Law Associate (FCLA), Fraud Claim Law Specialist (FCLS), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Associate in Claims (AIC), or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) certification.

Responsibilities

• Independently investigate suspected fraudulent insurance claims across workers’ compensation, general liability, property and casualty, and disability coverage.
• Gather information using discretion and guidance from clients and case managers through data collection, interviews, research, and collaboration with other SIU entities, law enforcement, and state Departments of Insurance.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation for investigations, file reviews, audits, training tasks, consulting projects, and other assignments as directed.
• Produce clear, concise, grammatically correct professional reports, memos, and letters.
• Run appropriate database indices when necessary and verify the accuracy of results.
• Independently develop a strategic plan to achieve assignment objectives, ensuring thorough documentation and effective communication with clients and their Special Investigation Unit Supervisor.
