About The Position

We are looking for a SIU Field Investigator II. In this role, you will play a critical role in driving the values on which our company was founded. Our perfect candidate understands the auto claims fraud landscape with experience conducting investigations in the field , is financially savvy, articulates both sides of an issue with clarity, digests complex information quickly and accurately, and is comfortable making decisions. Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience conducting insurance fraud investigations, with significant field investigation experience preferred
  • Experience handling automobile injury, property damage, staged accident, and/or organized fraud investigations preferred
  • Demonstrated experience conducting surveillance, scene investigations, witness interviews, and evidence collection
  • Strong understanding and application of laws, statutes, regulations, and compliance requirements related to fraud investigations and field operations
  • Ability to independently manage investigations, prioritize assignments, and make sound investigative decisions in the field
  • Experience conducting or supporting Examinations Under Oath with minimal direction
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of detailed investigative reports and courtroom testimony
  • Understanding of telematics data, location services, Event Data Recorder (EDR) analysis, and other vehicle forensic technologies preferred
  • Fraud Claim Law Specialist (FCLS), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), CPCU, or other fraud-related certifications preferred
  • High degree of professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment while remaining empathetic and customer-focused
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly within assigned territory, including occasional overnight travel as needed, and utilize vehicle as a workstation
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field investigations involving claims suspected of fraud, including complex investigations involving multiple claims, organized fraudulent activity, staged accidents, and provider-related fraud
  • Perform in-person investigative activities including scene investigations, neighborhood canvasses, witness interviews, recorded statements, accident-site documentation, and surveillance operations
  • Identify, document, preserve, and report investigative findings through detailed written reports, photographs, video evidence, diagrams, and other supporting materials
  • Investigate claims involving potential misrepresentation through examination of physical evidence, vehicle inspections, social media research, public records, and coordination with internal and external partners
  • Coordinate forensic inspections and investigative efforts with vendors, law enforcement, legal counsel, and other stakeholders
  • Conduct and support Examinations Under Oath (EUOs), including gathering supporting documentation and investigative materials
  • Occasionally testify in court proceedings, depositions, arbitration hearings, or remotely, and complete sworn affidavits as needed
  • Serve as a field resource for Claims and SIU staff regarding fraud indicators, investigative strategy, and evidence development
  • Proactively identify questionable claims and emerging fraud trends through field observations and investigative activity
  • Maintain timely and accurate case documentation while managing a high-volume investigative caseload across assigned territories
  • Engage in ongoing learning opportunities related to fraud trends, investigative techniques, court decisions, and applicable state regulations
  • Provide input into continuous improvement of SIU investigative processes, best practices, and field operations
  • Interact and communicate effectively with customers, witnesses, vendors, attorneys, law enforcement, peers, and leadership while maintaining professionalism and empathy
  • Mentor and assist less experienced investigators by sharing investigative techniques, field practices, and fraud detection strategies
