About The Position

The On-Site Workshop Supervisor will be responsible for monitoring and coordinating the refurbishment activities for passenger rail cars at the New Richmond workshop in Gaspésie. This is a six-month contract.

Requirements

  • DEP in a relevant technical field (e.g., construction, mechanics, electricity, civil engineering) or recognized equivalent.
  • 2–3 years of experience in a similar role involving work supervision.
  • Reading and interpretation of technical plans/drawings; revision control and document traceability.
  • Visual and dimensional inspection; proficiency with measuring tools (calipers, gauges) and acceptance criteria/FAI.
  • Preparation of follow-up reports with photographic evidence; use of digital site tools (DMS/QMS, checklists, office suites).
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills, both in French and in English.

  • Knowledge of the transportation technical domain.

Responsibilities

  • Validate the installations performed by contractors and confirm compliance with drawings, specifications, standards, and internal procedures.
  • Inspect the quality of workmanship and document nonconformities as well as corrective actions.
  • Photograph key stages, record observations, and produce complete, timely progress reports.
  • Assess work progress, compare it with schedules, and flag variances with recommended actions.
  • Verify and control the use of the correct revisions of drawings, specifications, and documents on the shop floor and on site.
  • Perform on-site measurements of railcar systems or components.
  • Generate installation procedures starting from existing documentation, with support from SYSTRA’s engineering team.
  • Perform updates to existing installation procedures.
  • Safeguard, properly use, and maintain company equipment; report and escalate any breakdowns or maintenance needs.
  • Conduct periodic inventories of company materials, keep registers up to date, and initiate necessary replenishments.
  • Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) at suppliers, compare against acceptance criteria, and issue the corresponding reports.
