About The Position

The Site Supervisor is a field leadership position responsible for coordinating and overseeing day-to-day activities on Hydro Tech project sites. The role ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project scope, schedule, quality standards, and applicable legislation. Candidates may come from skilled trades, technical, operational, supervisory, engineering, or other relevant industrial backgrounds with demonstrated leadership and field experience in complex work environments.

Requirements

  • Relevant trade certification, technical training, engineering background, supervisory experience, or equivalent industry experience considered an asset
  • Experience in construction, industrial, hydroelectric, mechanical, manufacturing, energy, or related environments
  • Demonstrated leadership or crew coordination experience in industrial or project-based settings
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to interpret drawings and technical documents
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Working knowledge of construction practices, safety legislation, and field operations
  • Relevant trade, technical, operational, supervisory, engineering, or industry-recognized certifications as applicable
  • Health & Safety training relevant to the work environment (e.g., Working at Heights, Confined Space, First Aid, LOTO, Hoisting & Rigging)
  • Additional project- or client-specific certifications as required

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support field crews, subcontractors, and site personnel
  • Coordinate daily work activities, labour, equipment, and materials
  • Promote a respectful, collaborative, and productive work environment
  • Provide field guidance, mentorship, and support to crews
  • Enforce applicable safety legislation, client requirements, and Hydro Tech HSE policies
  • Conduct tailboards, hazard assessments, and site safety inspections
  • Ensure proper use of PPE, tools, and safety equipment
  • Identify hazards and implement corrective actions
  • Participate in incident reporting and investigations
  • Execute work in accordance with drawings, specifications, schedules, and project scope
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders
  • Support work planning, sequencing, and problem resolution
  • Identify and escalate risks related to safety, schedule, scope, or cost
  • Ensure work meets Hydro Tech quality standards and client expectations
  • Support inspections, testing, commissioning, and corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate site documentation, including daily reports, labour tracking, and safety records
  • Provide regular project updates to management
  • Work within the applicable Collective Agreement
  • Maintain professional relationships with union representatives and crews
  • Support fair and consistent work practices and escalate concerns as required
