Reimagine What’s Possible Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 global leader in industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking a Site Supervisor to support operations at our Port Arthur, TX facility. The Port Arthur site is one of Air Products’ largest facilities, featuring two large-scale Steam Methane Reformer (SMR) hydrogen plants with integrated gas turbine and steam generation systems, CO₂ recovery units, and refinery off-gas PSA plants. The site also includes hydrogen and CO₂ pipeline networks that support customers across the Gulf Coast. Hydrogen produced onsite is transported via pipeline to local customers and the broader supply network, while CO₂ is delivered to oil fields for enhanced oil recovery and sequestration. The Port Arthur Site Supervisor reports to the Site Superintendent and plays a critical role in maintaining strong operational discipline across the facility. The role includes leading a team of 10 Operations Technicians and developing site talent through coaching, training, and progression boards. The supervisor will interface daily with site operations and maintenance leadership and collaborate with engineers and technical specialists across Port Arthur and the West Gulf Coast region.

Requirements

  • High school diploma; a technical degree (such as process technology) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HyCO plant operations and maintenance, or in facilities of similar complexity
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships across multiple support groups
  • Self-starter with demonstrated leadership capabilities
  • Ability to work independently as needed
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC card and pass refinery background checks
  • Proficient in computer applications, including the Microsoft Office suite
  • Demonstrated success in Safety, Environmental, Quality, and Employee Engagement

Responsibilities

  • Following, maintaining, and enforcing operating procedures
  • Understanding and operating within safe operating, design, and permit limits
  • Practicing effective alarm management and operational discipline
  • Developing strong troubleshooting skills and operational expertise
  • Utilizing and updating P&IDs, while ensuring team proficiency in P&ID interpretation
  • Executing and supporting Management of Change (MOC) processes and jumper/bypass procedures
  • Understanding process technology and underlying chemistry
  • Implementing, sharing, and training on best practices
  • Learning from incidents and investigations and applying lessons learned
  • Identifying maintenance concerns and partnering with the maintenance team to develop and implement corrective actions, while supporting preventive maintenance and mechanical integrity programs
  • Demonstrating excellence in safe work practices, Basic Safety Process (BSP), and emergency preparedness
  • Promoting ownership and accountability across operations
