About The Position

This supervisor is responsible to the Residential Manager to provide direct programming and support services to individuals with developmental disabilities and to supervise residential staff assigned to the individual’s home. The role involves performing in-home training, ensuring the safety, health, and well-being of all individuals, and managing related household chores. Key duties include transporting individuals, operating vehicles safely, ensuring proper medication dispensing and medical treatment implementation, and attending required training and meetings. The supervisor is also responsible for preparing nutritious meals, reporting incidents, performing first aid, maintaining individual and household possessions, and ensuring compliance with state and federal standards. Additionally, the position oversees and participates in direct care, supervises assigned employees, evaluates performance, implements Individual Service Plans, ensures accurate documentation, coordinates medical treatment, and maintains accurate accounting of resident funds and expenditures. The role also includes conducting in-service training for employees within the home and being responsible for on-call duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Multimedia First Aid certification.
  • CPR—adult, child & infant certification.
  • Delegated nursing certification.
  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License – Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
  • Two years experience working with developmentally disabled individuals.
  • Must be able to communicate in English – including spoken (either face-to-face or over the phone) and in writing.
  • Must be detail oriented and have competent literacy and writing, documentation, communications and interpersonal abilities.
  • Must be able to use tools and equipment as required – including pushing/pulling wheelchairs, lifting consumers with hoyer lifts.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct programming and support services to individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Supervise residential staff assigned to the individual’s home.
  • Perform in-home training with the Direct Support Professional.
  • Perform related household chores (supplements individuals training and incompetency).
  • Transport individuals as needed.
  • Operate vehicles safely.
  • Ensure the proper ordering and dispensing of medication as ordered by the physician.
  • Ensure the implementation of medical treatments as ordered by the physician.
  • Attend in-service training programs and staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Ensure and supervise the safety, health and well-being of all individuals.
  • Ensure preparation of nutritious meals.
  • Report unusual incidents and communicate unusual medical situations as requested.
  • Perform first aid and other nursing procedures as trained and designated.
  • Ensure that individual's personal and household possessions are maintained and in good repair.
  • Maintain household files for compliance with applicable state and federal standards as needed.
  • Oversee and participate in the provision of direct care.
  • Supervise assigned employees.
  • Recommend assignments, transfers, promotions, disciplinary actions and other personnel actions.
  • Evaluate employee performance.
  • Implement and supervise Individual Service Plans with the assistance of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Supervise and implement the service checklist.
  • Ensure that documentation of services is thorough and accurate.
  • Coordinate, implement and insure proper medical treatment as directed by physicians and nursing staff.
  • Maintain the implementation of CQL.
  • Maintain accurate accounting of resident funds and expenditures.
  • Perform in-service training to employees within the home as assigned as identified in the ISP.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
