About The Position

The Site Supervisor will assist in planning, supervising, and implementing childcare programs including Before-School, After-School, Summer Camp, and School Break Care. This role involves ensuring programs adhere to guidelines from the State of California Community Care Licensing or California Department of Education Expanded Learning Opportunities Programs. The Site Supervisor will provide quality care and supervision to children, guide behaviors using positive methods, and ensure a safe and thriving environment. Responsibilities also include carrying out activities and lesson plans, maintaining program quality standards, setting up and cleaning the program area, and assisting the Program Director with staff management and program administration. Additionally, the role involves maintaining school relationships, meeting program goals, and ensuring accurate enrollment and attendance procedures.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years old
High School Diploma or equivalent
2 years’ experience working in a childcare setting
Complete required certifications within 60 days of hire
Complete all required Branch and Position specific trainings as required within two weeks of hire
Ability to obtain Criminal Record Clearance
Maintain a valid California driver’s license, active participation in the California DMV Pull Program, an acceptable driving record and approval status as determined by the Channel Islands YMCA and/or its insurance carrier
Health Screening Report and negative TB test required prior to first day of employment
California Community Care Licensing: Must possess a minimum of 12 units of Child Development or related field and 3 units in Administration. A waiver may be submitted to allow for the Administration course to be completed in the first year of employment (or approved Community Care Licensing alternative)
California Department of Education Expanded Learning Opportunities Programs: Must possess 48 college units; or Associate’s Degree; or Pass a District-selected assessment demonstrating knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics

Responsibilities

Assist in planning, supervising, and implementing childcare programs (Before-School, After-School, Summer Camp, and School Break Care) in accordance with guidelines from State of California Community Care Licensing or California Department of Education Expanded Learning Opportunities Programs
Supervise up to 14 children independently under the guidelines from State of California Community Care Licensing or 20 children in accordance with guidelines from California Department of Education Expanded Learning Opportunities Programs
If applicable, supervise an Assistant or Associate Teacher with up to 28 children under the guidelines from the State of California Community Care Licensing
Provide quality care and supervision to children (visual, proactive, interactive)
Provide a safe environment for all children to thrive
Guide behaviors using positive methods, keeping in mind each child’s individual needs
Carry out activities and lesson plans
Ensure the program is delivering Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) standards
Set up and cleanup of the program area including vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, trash removal, etc
Assist the Program Director in the planning and administration of the program
Assist in selecting, training, guiding, evaluating, and employee corrective actions for staff
Responsible for maintaining school relationships, including monthly meetings with administration
Meeting attendance, enrollment goals, and maintain financial controls of budgeted expenses
Meet program quality expectations as evident on surveys, observations, and audits
Ensure accurate enrollment and attendance procedures are followed
