The Site Supervisor is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising a daily program of activities for school-age children in a before and after school child care setting. This role is typically located in a designated room within an elementary school building and often requires a split shift for opening and closing the site. The Site Supervisor will foster positive relationships with children, parents, school teachers, and school district personnel. The position can be for the nine-month school year or the three-month summer program, or both. The Site Supervisor will plan and implement developmentally appropriate programs using the YMCA School Age Care Curriculum, including weekly lesson plans, structured activities, and outdoor play. They will establish clear rules and use positive discipline techniques, while identifying and supporting children with special needs and serving as a positive role model. Communication with parents and school district personnel is key, involving monthly newsletters, parent conferences, and timely responses to concerns. The Site Supervisor also oversees assistant teachers, conducting evaluations, assigning duties, and fostering teamwork. Reporting functions include maintaining attendance and meal counts, planning menus, utilizing timekeeping systems, submitting weekly and monthly reports, and immediately reporting accidents. Ensuring a safe and healthy environment involves constant supervision, escorting children, maintaining confidentiality, administering first aid, managing medication, conducting fire drills, and adhering to licensing requirements. Additional responsibilities include managing supplies, preparing meals, attending meetings and trainings, securing the building, completing service projects, maintaining child records, controlling program resources, and managing petty cash. The Site Supervisor must be available for various school schedules and ensure the site operates within YMCA guidelines and contractual agreements, while adhering to the dress code and employee handbook policies.
