About The Position

This is an unpaid fellowship through the Department of War (DoW) SkillBridge Program. The fellow selected for this role will not receive compensation or benefits from GDIT and will not be an employee, agent or contractor of GDIT but rather will remain an employee of the DoW and will receive compensation and benefits through the DoW. Through the Department of War (DoW) SkillBridge Program, GDIT offers transitioning service members the opportunity to gain hands-on training and professional experience as a Site Security Manager (SSM) II Fellow, supporting construction security operations, SCIF/SAP facility accreditation activities, and physical security compliance functions in a mission-focused environment. In this Fellowship, participant will gain exposure to the lifecycle of secure facility construction and accreditation, including ICD 705-aligned SCIF construction security requirements, NISPOM compliance, TEMPEST coordination support, and physical security inspection activities. Fellow will work alongside experienced Site Security Managers and security leadership to develop foundational expertise in construction security oversight, accreditation support documentation, and contractor security coordination. The Site Security Manager (SSM) II Fellow will learn how security requirements are integrated into construction and design processes, while supporting compliance verification, documentation control, and security reporting activities associated with Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) and Special Access Program (SAP) environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area OR Associate’s degree + 2 years’ experience OR equivalent experience (4 years).
  • 3+ years of related experience in security operations, physical security, construction security, SAP/SCI environments, or related disciplines preferred.
  • Familiarity with physical security principles, construction environments, or facility security operations.
  • Exposure to SCIF, SAP, or classified program environments preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and apply security policy guidance (NISPOM, ICDs, UFCs).
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, construction-based operational environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication skills for coordination with technical and government stakeholders.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Eligibility for access to Special Access Program (SAP) information.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • On-site attendance required on customer site.
  • Fellowship duration and schedule aligned with SkillBridge program and training leadership requirements.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting development and maintenance of Construction Security Plans (CSP), Concept Validation Requests (CVR), and Fixed Facility Checklists (FFC).
  • Assisting in security inspections of construction sites to identify compliance deviations.
  • Supporting documentation of security violations and reporting to senior security leadership and Accrediting Officials (AOs).
  • Assisting with implementation of ICD 705 Physical Security Construction Requirements for SCIF facilities.
  • Supporting coordination with construction managers, engineers, and government stakeholders to ensure security compliance during project execution.
  • Assisting in preparation of accreditation documentation packages, including TEMPEST and physical security compliance checklists.
  • Supporting evaluation of construction environments for physical and technical security vulnerabilities.
  • Participating in security design reviews and construction planning meetings
  • Assisting in preparation and maintenance of inspection logs, security reports, and photographic documentation of construction sites.
  • Supporting implementation of site security procedures aligned with NISPOM, ICDs, UFC standards, and customer policies.
  • Assisting in preparation of Intrusion Detection, RF testing, and Sound Transmission Class (STC) reporting packages.
  • Supporting facility access control coordination and contractor security compliance monitoring.
  • Providing administrative and documentation support for security accreditation lifecycle activities.
  • Supporting security leadership with briefings, reporting, and compliance tracking activities.
  • Assisting with continuous improvement of security procedures, documentation practices, and inspection processes.
