About The Position

A Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring workplace safety by implementing safety programs, conducting inspections, training employees, and maintaining compliance with regulations. This role supports both commercial workplace and automotive manufacturing environments. The technician will develop, implement, and maintain environmental and safety policies and procedures, conduct audits, provide training, manage hazardous materials, investigate incidents, and ensure compliance with EH&S record keeping requirements. They will also maintain SOPs, WISs, and JP's, coordinate regulatory agency inspections, create custom training content, perform weekly toolbox training, review JSAs, and maintain logs and documentation for permits and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Valid driver's license and personal vehicle
Facility Engineering/Maintenance EHS experience required
1-2 years of experience in environmental health and safety management, ideally in a manufacturing or automotive environment
Knowledge of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) laws and regulations
Ability to conduct risk assessments and enforce safety standards
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for employee training and coaching
Proficient in incident investigation and root cause analysis techniques
Proficient with EHS-related software and reporting tools

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain environmental and safety policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements
Conduct regular environmental and safety audits to assess compliance and identify potential hazards
Provide training and guidance to employees on environmental policies, safety practices, and regulatory compliance
Manage hazardous materials and waste programs, including storage, disposal, and documentation
Investigate workplace accidents or environmental incidents and implement corrective measures
Coordinate with management and cross-functional departments to promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship
Stay current with environmental and safety legislation and advise the company on necessary actions
Prepare, maintain, and submit safety and environmental reports to relevant authorities
Support compliance with all EH&S record keeping requirements, including corporate and regulatory compliance/program documentation, e.g., auditing, training, medical, and OSHA records
Maintain and update as needed SOP’s, WIS’s, JP’s for all safe work practices and equipment and utilize them in the day to day training
Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and deficiencies minimized and corrected.
Create custom training content based on CWS and Client program requirements
Perform Weekly Toolbox Training
Review all JSA’s submitted in a timely manner, and provide coaching to Business Partners and employees, as needed
Maintain all logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements
