About The Position

Clean Harbors Project Services Group is seeking a Site Safety Officer to join their team. This role is primarily responsible for supporting project sites and assisting with Health & Safety (H&S) program implementation and improvements. The position requires flexibility for travel, with a typical cadence of 6 weeks on project followed by 1 week off, though other cadences may be required. The role involves working with a diverse customer base across regulatory, government, and military sectors, and collaborating with various internal departments to execute remediation, environmental construction, and transportation and disposal projects. Clean Harbors emphasizes health and safety as its top priority.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of direct field management/safety experience in lieu of degree.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable MVR required.
  • Ability to follow company policy on facial hair and getting fit for a respirator as needed, which could include shaving.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State regulations.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and follow the direction of senior management.
  • Complete an employment application and satisfy all employment requirements.
  • Pass a comprehensive pre-employment after offer is accepted and annual fit for duty physical, drug screen, and background clearance.
  • Adhere to Clean Harbors’ policies/procedures and maintain current OSHA 40, RCRA, DOT, and other training.
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and driving record that is satisfactory to Clean Harbors and be approved to operate light duty vehicles.
  • Must always demonstrate a professional standard of conduct.
  • Clean Harbors’ employees are expected to represent the company during their entire work rotation, on or off our project sites.
  • Must report to and work in the local office when needed or required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or safety certificates are preferred.
  • Background of H&S in an industrial environment or dirt work is preferred.
  • Proficient with computers, web navigation, MS Suite, Adobe Acrobat preferred.
  • Health and Safety degree or Safety-related certification.
  • Have or be able to obtain trainer status for First Aid/CPR, OSHA 30, and similar.
  • Proficient with computers, web navigation, MS Suite, Adobe Acrobat.

Responsibilities

  • Work and learn under the guidance of Health & Safety professionals.
  • Gain experience in remediation, environmental construction, and waste management.
  • Provide safety-related guidance to proposal, field, and management teams.
  • Assist in the development of HASPs, JHAs, and other required safety documents.
  • Develop and manage safety-related communications and updates.
  • Support project sites and assist with H&S Program implementation and improvements.
  • Assist with the onboarding and guidance of new employees.
  • Serve on the Safety Committee and help guide policy and procedure.
  • Assist with H&S related admin functions such as training and incident reporting.
