About The Position

LF Driscoll, part of the STO Building Group, is seeking a Site Safety Manager to support our mission critical operations in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This role is essential for implementing and managing safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering or related degree or equivalent work experience is required
  • 5-10 years of general construction experience.
  • OSHA 30 hour training required

Nice To Haves

  • A board-certified safety credential from a nationally recognized organization (for example, CSP, ASP, CHST) preferred
  • Current OSHA 500 certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of the safety management system and progress against the safety Performance Standards.
  • Leads and provides functional management for safety personnel.
  • Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials.
  • Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Ensures that there are appropriate processes in place for promptly alerting the business to significant accidents and incidents.
  • Investigates accidents and incidents where appropriate and ensures that findings are reported.
  • Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Produces safety management reports monthly, quarterly and annually on safety performance.
  • Reviews accident and incident reports and investigation reports, identifies any trends and ensures that there is an appropriate response to prevent future recurrence.
  • Regularly meets with safety personnel to monitor and review the management of the function.
  • Reports on safety performance for the business unit at management team meetings.
  • Consults and liaises with Corporate Safety Director on the management of safety in the division/business unit.
